## Key takeaways

- Cordless robots now clean the **floor, walls and waterline**, and the best park themselves at the surface when they finish.
- Rated runtime ranges from about **1.5 hours (Seagull SE) to 5 hours (Beatbot Sora 10, Sora 30)**. Wall climbing and dirty pools reduce it.
- Cordless costs more per unit of suction than corded, and you charge it between runs: for the full trade-off see [corded vs cordless](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/posts/corded-vs-cordless-robotic-pool-cleaners/).
- Newer cordless models have short review histories: factor warranty length (2–3 years on most) into the choice.

A cordless pool robot is a robot vacuum without the cord: a sealed unit with a battery that you drop in the pool, set going and retrieve when it surfaces. Since 2024 the category has gone from basic floor cleaners to robots that climb walls, scrub the waterline and park themselves. This guide picks the best of them and says what you give up compared with a [corded robot](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/posts/corded-vs-cordless-robotic-pool-cleaners/).

## What to look for in a cordless robot

- **Surfaces cleaned.** Floor-only robots (like the Aiper Seagull SE) are for small above-ground pools. For in-ground pools, look for wall climbing and waterline cleaning.

- **Runtime and rated coverage.** These are manufacturer best-case numbers (see [coverage ratings explained](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/posts/robotic-pool-cleaner-coverage-ratings-explained/)). Aim for coverage of at least 1.5 times your floor area.

- **Retrieval.** Surface parking and waterline docking save you from fishing the robot out of the deep end.

- **Filtration.** Standard baskets are 150–200 microns; some add a 3-micron ultra-fine option. See [filtration explained](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/posts/robotic-pool-cleaner-filtration-microns-explained/).

- **Warranty.** Newer models have few reviews, so a 2–3 year warranty is a useful hedge.

Rated runtime per charge (cordless robots) Hours of floor cleaning on a full battery, as stated by the manufacturer. Corded robots run as long as they're plugged in.

## 1. Beatbot AquaSense 2: Best overall

The [AquaSense 2](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/beatbot-aquasense-2/) cleans the floor, walls and waterline, is rated for up to about 3,230 sq ft, parks at the surface and carries a 3-year warranty per Beatbot, at about $800–850. Runtime sources vary from about 2.5 to 4 hours. It doesn’t skim the surface.

## 2. Beatbot Sora 10: Best value

At about $470 the [Sora 10](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/beatbot-sora-10/) has the longest rated battery here (300 minutes), waterline cleaning, a 5 L basket and a 2-year warranty. It’s new and its review base is small.

## 3. Aiper Scuba S3: Best filtration

The [Scuba S3](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/aiper-scuba-s3/) pairs a 180 µm mesh with a replaceable 3 µm ultra-fine insert, weighs 18 lbs and scrubs 2 inches above the waterline. It’s about $700; the listing doesn’t state coverage or warranty, so confirm those first.

## 4. Aiper Scuba S1: Best reviewed under $500

The [Scuba S1 (2026)](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/aiper-scuba-s1/) has about 870 reviews at 4.4 stars, dual filtration including a 3 µm option and a 2-year warranty for just under $500. Its 180-minute auto runtime is shorter than the Sora 10’s.

## 5. Wybot C2 Vision: Best camera-guided

The [C2 Vision](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/wybot-c2-vision/) uses an AI camera to spend more time on heavy-debris areas and offers custom cleaning routes. It’s rated for about 2,150 sq ft and costs about $630. For a standard pool the [Wybot C1](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/wybot-c1/) at about $400 does a similar basic job.

## What you give up

- **Convenience of “always on.”** A corded robot runs as long as it’s plugged in; a cordless one needs charging.

- **Long-term battery life.** Cordless robots depend on a lithium battery that wears with charge cycles. Beatbot’s own blog cites roughly 1,000 charge cycles before its batteries lose full capacity (a manufacturer claim we haven’t verified), so ownership length depends on how often you run it. See [how long robotic pool cleaners last](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/posts/how-long-do-robotic-pool-cleaners-last/).

- **Review history.** Most cordless models here launched in 2025–2026.

## Our pick

If you want a cordless robot and your pool is a typical in-ground pool, buy the [AquaSense 2](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/beatbot-aquasense-2/). If budget rules, the [Sora 10](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/beatbot-sora-10/) or [Scuba S1](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/pool-robots/aiper-scuba-s1/) are the ones to compare; our [budget comparison](https://robotpoolcleanerguide.com/posts/beatbot-sora-10-vs-aiper-scuba-s1-vs-wybot-c1/) does exactly that. ## Frequently asked questions

### How long do cordless pool robots run?
Manufacturer-rated runtimes range from about 90 minutes on the cheapest models to around 5 hours on the Beatbot Sora 10 and Sora 30. Most mid-range cordless robots are rated for 2.5–4 hours, which is enough for a typical pool in one run.

### Can a cordless robot clean a large pool?
Yes, if the battery and rated coverage are big enough: the Beatbot models are rated for up to roughly 3,200–3,900 sq ft per charge. Treat those as ceilings and aim for a rating of about 1.5 times your floor area.

### How often do I charge a cordless pool robot?
After most runs. The recharge takes roughly 2.5–4 hours depending on the model. A weekly or twice-weekly cleaning schedule is the typical pattern.

### Do cordless robots work with Wi-Fi underwater?
No. Cordless robots lose connectivity underwater, so the app is for scheduling and status; they reconnect when they surface.
